Cost Accountant | Charlotte, MI

Salary Range: $64,000 - $97,000 depending on experience

The Opportunity

We partner with manufacturers across Charlotte seeking Cost Accountants who want more than a lateral move. These companies hire intentionally, and we connect them with professionals ready for roles that fit.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain standard costs for raw materials, labor, and manufacturing overhead.
• Analyze manufacturing variances (material, labor, overhead) and provide insights into their causes.
• Prepare detailed cost reports, profitability analyses, and inventory valuations for management.
• Manage inventory costing, including work-in-process and finished goods, and reconcile inventory accounts.
• Assist in the preparation of the annual budget and periodic forecasts for manufacturing operations.
• Identify and recommend cost reduction opportunities and efficiency improvements within production processes.
• Support month-end close activities related to cost of goods sold and inventory valuation.

Recommended Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 3+ years of progressive cost accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
• In-depth understanding of cost accounting principles, standard costing, and variance analysis.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation abilities.

Bonus Qualifications

• Experience with SAP CO, Oracle EBS Costing, or similar advanced ERP costing modules.
• Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.
• Advanced proficiency in data analysis and visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
• CMA (Certified Management Accountant) certification or active pursuit.
• Strong SQL skills for data extraction and reporting.
