Job Description

Emler Swim School, rapidly growing and continually providing exceptional service for young families in communities, seeks an experienced and seasoned Director to join the Company’s construction operations. Responsible for leading and overseeing Company construction operations, managing multiple projects at any given time throughout the year, from inception to completion, driving cost savings, ensuring adherence to schedules, and delivering high-quality results. This position is Dallas based and requires a regular office presence. Frequent travel to other cities and states is required and will likely occur on a weekly basis.

 

  • Project Management & Leadership - Oversee and direct construction projects from start to finish, ensuring they are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
    • Manage, and collaborate with, project managers, architects, engineers, contractors and other stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables.
    • Develop and enforce standard operating procedures which streamline workflows and improve efficiency.
    • Oversee the due diligence, design and permitting process to ensure buildouts are “to standard”.

 

  • Maintenance Oversight
    • Lead and oversee the maintenance operations of existing sites, ensuring they are maintained to high operational and safety standards.
    • Manage and mentor the maintenance team, fostering a proactive approach to site upkeep and problem-solving.
    • Implement preventative maintenance schedules and ensure compliance with all safety regulations and operational requirements.

 

  • Cost Management & Savings - Monitor and control project budgets, proactively identifying and addressing variances.
    • Negotiate with contractors, suppliers, and vendors to ensure competitive pricing and contract terms.
    • Oversee the due diligence, design and permitting process to ensure buildouts adhere to budgets.
    • Develop and implement cost-saving initiatives.

 

  • Schedule Adherence - create and maintain project schedules, ensuring deadlines are met across multiple projects. This includes Analyzing project progress and performance, implementing corrective measures as necessary to stay on schedule.

 

  • Team Communication
    • Foster clear and consistent communication within the construction team and across departments.
    • Provide regular updates on project progress, challenges, and successes to internal stakeholders and leadership.
    • Act as a liaison between field teams and corporate leadership, ensuring alignment on project objectives, schedules, and deliverables.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in construction management, with a track record of leading multi-site projects.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methods, regulations, and best practices.
  • Proven history of successfully developing successful, long-term business relationships, leading to high quality deliverables.
  • Proficiency working with Microsoft, Google Suite or similar office applications, including email, spreadsheets, video meetings and file management.

 

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Proficiency in project management software and construction technology tools.
  • Experience in Lean Construction practices or similar cost-reduction methodologies.
  • Certification in PMP (Project Mgt. Professional) or CCM (Certified Construction Manager).
  • Advanced degree (Post-Bachelor) in Construction Mgt, Engineering, Architecture, or related field.
  • Experienced with frequent travel, as often as weekly
