Hours: The schedule will vary throughout the year based on seasonal demands.

Job Summary

The Farm Manager is responsible for overseeing the planning, organization, and execution of all activities on our regenerative organic farm to ensure top-quality results, strong yields, and cost-effective operations. This role involves leading a dedicated team by training, scheduling, and motivating staff to align with farm goals. With a proactive approach and hands-on leadership, the Farm Manager ensures smooth daily operations, collaborates with farm teams, and drives efficiency. By effectively coordinating activities and resources, this role plays a key part in the farm’s success and long-term sustainability. Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee farm operations to ensure optimum use of resources (people, plants, soil, and equipment) by establishing procedures, priorities, and work schedules.
  • Collaborate with farm leads to communicate farming priorities and ensure they are incorporated into daily tasks.
  • Ensure that harvest yields, cost containment, and regenerative organic standards are met.
  • Provide technical guidance and support for standard operating procedures.
  • Clearly define job roles and responsibilities, ensuring efficient communication and allocation of duties.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant regulatory agencies (FDA, USDA Organic, Regenerative Organic, OSHA, etc.).
  • Oversee data collection, tracking, and reporting for farm activities, making recommendations for improvements to ensure quality harvests.
  • Establish preventive maintenance procedures and ensure proper inspection and maintenance of farm equipment.
  • Recommend repairs and upgrades as necessary, working with the purchasing team to negotiate cost-effective equipment purchases and service contracts.
  • Oversee the maintenance and repair of farm buildings, grounds, irrigation systems, and other essential infrastructure.
  • Ensure property developments are within budget and aligned with farm plans.
  • Assist in budget development and cost control monitoring schedules, payroll, and reports to meet budget goals.
  • Represent the farm in meetings and update staff on organizational changes.
  • Ensure safety training and SOP updates.
  • Model safety adherence and participate in the Safety Committee.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Ability to lead, motivate, and manage farm staff effectively, ensuring productivity and morale.
  • In-depth knowledge of farming techniques, organic practices, and crop management.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve issues related to farm operations, equipment, and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage schedules, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Experience in managing farm budgets, tracking expenses, and ensuring cost-efficiency.
  • Familiarity with agricultural regulations, organic certifications (e.g., USDA Organic), and safety protocols.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and interest in herbs, botanicals, and spices.
  • Experience with botanical, natural products, consumer packaged goods industries.
  • Ability to carry out detailed oral or written instructions.
  • Ability to work in a team environment without close supervision.
  • Ensures safe working conditions, by always following established safety procedures, participating in all required safety training, and remaining aware of safety concerns.
  • Participates in all team meetings, sharing ideas on continuous process improvement with the supervisor and team members.
  • Education and Experience : Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Farm Management, or related field. 5 years of experience in farm management or a similar role, preferably in organic farming. Or Equivalent combination of education and experience

Working Conditions

This role requires strong language skills, including the ability to read and interpret safety rules, procedures, and manuals, as well as write reports and communicate effectively with customers and employees. Physical requirements include frequent walking, bending, reaching, and standing, along with the ability to lift up to 49 lbs. manual labor, such as planting, harvesting, and equipment maintenance. Exposure to outdoor weather and slippery surfaces may occur. Exposure to dust, dirt, and chemicals (if applicable) when handling pesticides, fertilizers, and other agricultural products. Candidates should possess mathematical skills to calculate discounts, percentages, and measurements, as well as apply basic algebra and geometry concepts. Strong reasoning ability is essential for solving practical problems, interpreting various instructions, and adapting to situations with limited standardization. Lastly, excellent interpersonal skills are needed to effectively communicate, actively listen, and maintain professionalism in all interactions.
