Job Overview: As the Lead Barista at Main Ground Coffee, you will be at the forefront of delivering exceptional customer service. You will play a pivotal role in leading and motivating our team of baristas, ensuring smooth coffee bar operations, and maintaining high standards of beverage quality. You will also act as the key point of contact for all things related to coffee preparation and team coordination, and working closely with management to maintain a positive and efficient work environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Team Leadership and Supervision: Maintain a high standard of professionalism and setting that standard for the team to follow (customer service, coffee preparation). Oversee day to day operations of the coffee bar ensuring a smooth workflow and efficient task delegation. Enforcing how cleanliness impacts compliance with health codes and food safety regulations.
  • Coaching and Mentoring: Offer real time feedback, guidance, and encouragement to team members to improve their skills and to overcome challenges. Encourage team members to continually improve their coffee knowledge, technical skills, and customer service abilities. The Lead Barista will be responsible for ensuring our team is coached and mentored to maintain a 1% or less waste and to ensure a customer satisfaction of 4.8 or higher.
  • Administrative Procedures: Opens and or closes the coffee shop with proper procedures and completing assigned paperwork/tasks.
  • Inventory and Product Management: Responsible for maintaining an accurate inventory of all products used in the cafe, including coffee beans, syrups, milks, pastries, and other consumables. Based on stock levels and demand, you will be responsible for placing orders for new supplies. Conduct inventory on a bi-weekly basis to ensure that all products are accounted for. Report any discrepancies or losses to the General Manager for further investigation.
  • Cleaning Schedules and Checklists: You will be responsible for enforcing clear schedules and checklists to ensure consistency. You will be responsible for overseeing the Jolt Checklist. From Opening, Midday, to Closing checklists and ensure these are being completed efficiently and on time.

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience working as a barista in a high volume- customer facing environment.
  • Leadership: Minimum of 1 year of leadership or supervisory experience in hospitality, food service, or coffee shop settings.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to connect effectively with customers and coworkers.
  • Time Management: Strong time management skills with the ability to multitask, prioritize, and organize.
  • Age/Transportation: At least 18 years of age with a valid drivers license, and with reliable transportation. May be required to leave the store and required to drop off bank deposits.
  • Crimson Cup Barista Foundation Program: Completion of Crimson Cup Barista Foundation Program.
  • Availability: Must be available for at least 6 hours during operation hours at least 3 days a week.
