A nationally recognized healthcare system is seeking a Medical Receptionist (Patient Service Associate) to join its float team. This is a confidential, high-priority search requiring a candidate who can uphold the highest standards of patient care, data security, and compliance.
Patient Interaction & Registration: Greet and register patients in a professional, compassionate manner while ensuring all demographic, insurance, and contact information is accurately entered into the EMR.
Scheduling & Coordination: Schedule patient appointments, manage provider calendars, and coordinate follow-up visits across multiple clinic locations.
Front Desk Operations: Answer and triage calls for urgency, scan and upload medical records, verify insurance benefits, collect co-pays, and process charge entries and payment postings.
Compliance & Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality of patient records and financial information in accordance with HIPAA and MediClear standards.
Team Collaboration: Communicate effectively with physicians, nurses, and administrative staff to ensure a smooth patient flow and a positive patient experience.
Adaptability: Provide coverage at various Mercy locations as needed and adapt to changing patient volume or workflow.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required; additional medical office or healthcare coursework preferred.
MediClear Certification (or equivalent healthcare compliance credential) required.
Strong interpersonal and customer service skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations with tact and professionalism.
Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions when circumstances warrant.
Proficiency with EMR systems, Microsoft Office Suite, and standard office equipment.
Prior experience as a medical receptionist, patient service associate, or similar role in a healthcare environment.
Familiarity with insurance verification, payment posting, and multi-line phone systems.
