About the Role :
We’re hiring one dedicated in-person tutor to provide small-group ELA instruction to 6th-8th grade students at PS 31 The William Lloyd Garrison. As a middle school ELA tutor, you will serve as push-in support within classrooms—working closely with teachers to deliver personalized instruction that empowers students to enhance their literacy skills, build confidence, and achieve academic success.

What You’ll Do:

• Collaborate with teachers and school leaders to deliver engaging and focused small-group instruction in ELA.
• Serve as push-in support, assisting teachers during lessons and working with selected students.
• Foster a positive learning environment that encourages curiosity and resilience.
• Be a valued member of a team dedicated to transforming educational outcomes in underserved communities.

Schedule:

• Days: Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday
• Time: 9:20 AM – 2:20 PM
• Duration: March 4, 2025 – March 27, 2025 (excluding holidays and school conferences)
• Key Date Off:  
  • March 13: Middle School Parent Teacher's Conference

What We’re Looking For:

• Experience: Prior experience tutoring or teaching middle school ELA.
• Subject Proficiency: Strong knowledge of ELA at the middle school level.
• Team Player: A collaborative spirit and a desire to work closely with teachers and students.
• Communication: Strong verbal and written skills to connect effectively with diverse audiences.
• Passion: A commitment to educational equity and social justice for minority and low-income students.
• Availability: Must be able to work the specified schedule consistently.
