About this opportunity:
APPLE VALLEY NEWS NOW seeks an experienced and enthusiastic news producer to craft dynamic morning newscasts that are both informative and engaging. Our ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, excels at presenting breaking news, and possesses exceptional writing skills, journalistic judgment, and social media acumen. This position is based at KVEW-TV in Kennewick, Washington, located in the vibrant Tri-Cities area known for its abundant sunshine, stunning outdoor scenery, cultural diversity, and convenient access to major cities like Spokane, Seattle, and Portland, earning its reputation as the “Heart of Washington Wine Country.”
What you'll do:
• Produce, write, and coordinate daily morning newscasts
• Make timely coverage decisions based on daily content
• Collaborate with reporters and anchors to optimize story presentation
• Utilize social media platforms to publish content and generate story ideas
• Conduct thorough research for informative news segments
• Produce stories relevant and valuable to our target audience on all platforms
• Fulfill assignments as directed by the news director
What you'll bring:
• Bachelor's degree in Journalism or a related field
• Proficiency in broadcast and AP style writing
• Leadership experience within a news organization
• Self-motivation and strong organizational skills
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Familiarity with iNews (preferred but not required)
• Proficiency in Edius for editing (preferred but not required)
