Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claims Adjuster

Job Summary

Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claims Adjuster to join a team. This role involves providing quality investigation and analysis to adjust commercial Michigan PIP and bodily injury auto claims, including both litigated and non-litigated matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in claims handling, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.

Compensation Package

  • Pay Rate: $38-$45 per hour
  • Employment Type: Temp-to-hire
  • Start Date: Immediate

Responsibilities

  • Conduct thorough investigations of losses, verify coverage, evaluate liability and damages, and determine compensability independently.
  • Engage in negotiations with other parties and settle claims in accordance with claims handling guidelines.
  • Review and analyze documents and legal pleadings using expertise in the field.
  • Establish and maintain accurate reserves for each claim to reflect financial exposure.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with agents, policyholders, and internal stakeholders regarding claims and the book of business.
  • Partner with legal counsel to manage litigated claims.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience handling Michigan PIP claims (experience with bodily injury claims preferred but not required).
  • AIC or SCLA certification is preferred.
  • Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required.
  • Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.
  • Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers.
  • Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal and external customers.
  • Proven negotiation skills.
