Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claims Adjuster
Job Summary
Seeking a highly skilled and motivated Personal Injury Protection (PIP) Claims Adjuster to join a team. This role involves providing quality investigation and analysis to adjust commercial Michigan PIP and bodily injury auto claims, including both litigated and non-litigated matters. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in claims handling, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with various stakeholders.
Compensation Package
Pay Rate: $38-$45 per hour
Employment Type: Temp-to-hire
Start Date: Immediate
Responsibilities
Conduct thorough investigations of losses, verify coverage, evaluate liability and damages, and determine compensability independently.
Engage in negotiations with other parties and settle claims in accordance with claims handling guidelines.
Review and analyze documents and legal pleadings using expertise in the field.
Establish and maintain accurate reserves for each claim to reflect financial exposure.
Collaborate and communicate effectively with agents, policyholders, and internal stakeholders regarding claims and the book of business.
Partner with legal counsel to manage litigated claims.
Qualifications/Requirements
Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum of 3 years of experience handling Michigan PIP claims (experience with bodily injury claims preferred but not required).
AIC or SCLA certification is preferred.
Ability to obtain appropriate state licensing as required.
Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Excel.
Demonstrated ability to build positive relationships and partnerships within the department, across the organization, and with external customers.
Strong strategic thinking and analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal and external customers.
Proven negotiation skills.
