Position Type: Full-Time (starts in August 2025)

Job Summary: East Lake Academy, a private Catholic school dedicated to academic excellence and spiritual growth, is seeking a dynamic, energetic, and passionate 5th Grade Teacher to join our school community. The ideal candidate will create a nurturing and supportive learning environment while aligning with the mission and vision of the school. This individual will be committed to fostering students’ academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development. The 5th Grade Teacher will be responsible for lesson planning, delivering creative and thoughtful instruction, maintaining effective communication with parents, and advocating for each student’s success.

Key Responsibilities:
Align with School Mission & Vision:

  • Foster an environment that is aligned with the Catholic teachings, values, and the mission of the school
  • Encourage spiritual growth and respect for all students, reflecting Catholic values in all aspects of teaching and interactions
  • Act as a role model of professionalism in a Catholic environment
  • Support the philosophy, policies, and goals of the school, and administration


Lesson Planning & Instruction:

  • Develop and implement engaging, age-appropriate, and standards-aligned lesson plans that promote student growth in all subject areas
  • Provide creative and interactive learning experiences that foster critical thinking and curiosity
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs of students and ensure inclusive learning environments


Student Advocacy:

  • Serve as a strong advocate for each student, ensuring their academic, emotional, and social needs are met
  • Identify and address individual student needs, collaborating with parents and colleagues as necessary
  • Foster a positive classroom environment that encourages respect, responsibility, and Christian values


Parent Communication:

  • Maintain regular communication with parents regarding student progress, behavior, and any concerns
  • Ensure open and effective communication with families
  • Respond promptly and professionally to parent inquiries and feedback


Grade Book & Assessments:

  • Keep an up-to-date grade book, recording assessments, assignments, and student progress in a timely and accurate manner
  • Evaluate student work, provide constructive feedback, and use assessment data to inform instruction


Classroom Management:

  • Create a positive, structured, and safe classroom environment where students can thrive academically and personally
  • Establish and maintain clear expectations for student behavior and academic performance
  • Foster a classroom culture that aligns with the Catholic values of respect, kindness, and community


Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Collaborate with fellow teachers and staff to enhance student learning and share best practices
  • Participate in school committees and events that support the mission of the school and promote school-wide activities
  • Contribute to the planning and execution of school events, religious activities, and community outreach initiatives


Professional Development:

  • Stay current with educational trends, teaching strategies, and curriculum updates
  • Attend professional development workshops and conferences to continually enhance teaching skills

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field (required)
  • Valid teaching certification (preferred)
  • Experience teaching at the elementary level, preferably in a Catholic school setting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
  • Creative, energetic, and passionate about teaching and working with children
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and contribute to school-wide initiatives
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently
  • Commitment to upholding and modeling Catholic values
