Apple’s Music Publishing Payment Operations team is responsible for the flow of royalty payments and reporting to rights holders around the world. In addition to close operational partnership with music publishers and collection societies, you will collaborate with Apple’s legal, commercial, finance, product and engineering teams to support Apple Music, Apple TV+, Fitness+ and iTunes Downloads, which includes our music store as well as the music we sell and rent in TV shows, movies, ringtones, and our locker service, iTunes Match.

Description
Our team is responsible for Apple’s music publishing royalty reporting, accruals and payments. We are not a finance team, but our work is tightly aligned with Apple’s finance organization. We find creative solutions to translate complex commercial agreements into efficient royalty operations that scale globally. As a member of the dedicated publishing operations team at one of the world’s largest music services, you will build and support the critical infrastructure of the global music ecosystem.
RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE…
- Reconcile invoices and communicate issues both internally and externally.
- Build financial models, including cost estimates and other forecasting.
- Define pricing models and work with Finance to accrue for music publishing related costs.
- Create and manage large spreadsheets, potentially with dozens of tabs and cross-dependencies.
- Reconcile account balances and provide accounting statements to partners.
- Contribute to process improvement; help continuously improve our product.
- Define solutions that can work either regionally or globally; build consensus to help drive adoption.
- Contribute operational requirements to the Legal and Commercial teams.
- Answer external partner invoice related inquiries, onboarding new partners and educating them on self-service tools.
- Work closely with IT to identify and resolve production issues.
- Define test cases and perform user acceptance testing (UAT).

Minimum Qualifications
- Experience performing analysis in Excel and creating spreadsheet models.
- Understanding of accounting principles and/or finance experience with payment processing.
- Experience with financial systems such as SAP to validate payments and balances.
- Bachelor’s degree or master’s degree in business, accounting, finance, or engineering or equivalent industry experience.

- At Apple, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow and develop within a role. The base pay range for this role is between $108,200 and $165,200, and your base pay will depend on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. Apple employees also have the opportunity to become an Apple shareholder through participation in Apple’s discretionary employee stock programs. Apple employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards, and can purchase Apple stock at a discount if voluntarily participating in Apple’s Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
